Windows was Unable To Format Pen/Usb/Flash Drive

Sometime our operating system does not recognize the flash/pen/usb drive. So when we connect usb/flash to PC, it gives message that “usb needs to be formatted”, but when we click format button windows again gives message that “Windows was unable to complete the format”. This error can be easily fixed/solved.

To fix/solve this error follow the steps given below:

  • Right click on “my computer” and then select “Manage”
  • You will see a window of “Computer Management” will appear
  • In the left panel click on “Disk Management” under “Storage”
  • In the right panel you will see the drives
  • Right click on flash/usb/pen drive and select “New Simple Volume”
  • A wizard will open, simply follow the steps
  • After this a new Partition will be created
  • Now right click on flash and format the it
  • Open “my computer” and double click on flash drive to copy any data to usb
